We are going to take the train on a day trip to Austrian Salzburg, not far from the Bavarian border. The relatively small city is a popular destination for international tourists, who cause a bustling activity in the historic old part of town every day. Salzburg is known throughout the world in particular for being the city where Mozart was born and is therefore also well-known for its classical music, which is taught in the Mozarteum or performed at the Salzburg Festival. But the city, which is surrounded by massive-seeming walls of rock made up of conglomerates from the Ice Age, has a lot more to offer for sure.

On a walk through the city, we will dive into the hustle and bustle of tourist sites but will try and leave them now and then by entering side lanes so as to also discover less famous places.

Afterwards, there will be enough time to stroll through the town either by yourself or in a small group – everyone will get a list with useful tips – before we all meet again at the station to take the train back to Munich together.

If you want to join the day trip, you need to have a "Deutschlandticket". Otherwise you need to get yourself a "Bayernticket" for the day. (This is not included in the price, students have to pay the train ticket by themselves.)
