Have you ever wondered what Munich's underground might look like?

Hygiene is one of the most important tasks of a drainage system. In former times, Munich city streams and gutters had to do for human calls of nature as well as garbage. The construction of the first sewer began in 1811. In 1885, the urban sewer system had a length of 25 kilometres. Today, roughly 2,400 kilometres pass through Munich's "stomach" and dispose of the sewage of approximately 2 million Munich residents and connected neighbouring communities as well as that of business and industry.

The sewer tour of the "Münchner Stadtentwässerung" (Munich's city drainage service) will reveal Munich's otherwise well-hidden and inaccessible underground with its fascinating history of how it came into being and stories from the world of sewerage workers.

The tour will be held in German.
