Rethinking safety: Protecting media freedom in times of crisis

Hosted by DW Akademie and Reporters Without Borders Germany (RSF)
with support from the Federal Ministry of Development and Cooperation (BMZ) and the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS)

At this year’s fome Symposium we will be looking together at how to support a safe environment and secure structures, and how to deal with tensions between acute crisis management and sustainable development cooperation. How can this work in practice? What should we, as media development organizations, consider when providing emergency aid? Which problems might be overseen when acute crises emerge? How can we keep security in mind when it comes to digital, mental, financial and legal aspects? And how can we communicate this to donors and policymakers?
