A concert for all young people under 30!
 
 
The university concert is a legendary format, which presents a concert evening of the Isarphilharmonie for students and concert enthusiasts under 30 years of age at the end of the semester.
 
This semester, the Isarphilharmonie will be presenting two exceptional works from the early 20th century by Rachmaninow and Gustav Holst, conducted by Gustavo Gimeno and featuring pianist Kyohei Sorita.
 
As a child, Kyohei Sorita dreamt of playing with a large orchestra and being enveloped by the music. That dream has in the meantime come true for him on many occasions. He was the discovery of the Chopin Competition in 2021 in Warsaw, where he played himself into the hearts of his audience. In 2023, he made a brilliant debut with the Münchner Philharmoniker with Rachmaninow's Piano Concerto No. 2; now he'll be returning to the Isarphilharmonie with the Piano Concerto No. 3.
 
Entirely detached from Earth – in his composition "The Planets", Gustav Holst reaches out into the vast expanses of the universe. Every movement centres on one of our solar system's planets and illustrates the mythological features of the celestial body, creating an immense orchestral effect. Spanish conductor Gustavo Gimeno will be leading the choir and orchestra of the Münchner Philharmoniker on this tremendous journey through the cosmos. The university concert will be followed by "MPHIL Late". The young audience can look forward to a surprise in the foyer of the Isarphilharmonie in Hall E.
